Furtho East Mural

In March of this year, Sarah Hodgkins (Charlotte Designs/@muralsbysarah on Instagram) came to our ceremony room, Furtho East, to paint a mural. Sarah's design was inspired by her view having passed through the farm on a run. 

Sarah started Charlotte Designs in 2005 and paints murals across the area. Her expertise as a farmer's daughter has perhaps leant her a helping hand in being able to capture the essence of the farm in her mural.


The mural saw the culmination of some of the most poignant elements of the view from the lake below, as seen in the painting of the gazebo and the dovecote. The gazebo stands on an island in the lake and is available to be used for ceremonies, after it was purpose built in 2019. The dovecote is one of the historic landmarks on the farm often used as a background for photographs on their wedding days.



Whilst the mural is not an exact representation of the venue it creates a pleasing background for ceremonies which may take place in the room, as seen in the set up above photographed by Autumn Rae (@autumnraeweddings on Instagram). The mural brightens up the room entirely and simply brings the essence of Furtho into the room. Furtho East can be hired as a venue for ceremonies and other events.

Fabulous DIY Wedding

The bride and bridesmaid's stayed in the Farmhouse the night before the wedding  I have had many creatives brides but I think this was the first and so far only bride who made her own wedding dress.  It was absolutely amazing and I loved the open back. Amelia & James got married on the gazebo at the lake here at Furtho.  With guests sat on the grass seats. I always love going to see the barn all set up on a Friday evening before a wedding.  For this wedding I was certainly blown away by all the amazing details.  Each table had a hoop of flowers over it was so effective. The Grooms Mum made the cake apparently have a few trials and making a delicious cake for the day.  I have great memories of this wedding with the sliding doors open and a packed dancefloor.  DJ Karlton had not played here before but we were very impressed.   I think this is the shortest supplier list I have ever written !! Wedding Food Caterers

  My girls asked me recently what food we had at our wedding, and when I replied saying we had had canapes, roast lamb and pudding they said we were boring.  When we got married, most people were very traditional and that was the way we went.  At each table we nominated a carver, and they were presented with a leg of lamb to carve.  If all the people on the table did not know each other this soon broke any ice.  Robin & I cannot even remember what canapes and pudding we had, although I am sure we debated what to have for a while.  Although lots of couples do still choose a traditional three course meal, this is by no means the norm, and couples realise it is their wedding, so they can have whatever they like.  When couples come and view Furtho Manor Farm I send them our supplier list, and help to point them in the right direction of suppliers who will suit them - but I often wonder if they look at the list of caterers, and wonder where to start.  So today I decided to tell you abou
