Food Glorious Food


The Navigation Inn, Castlethorpe is just a mile from Furtho and it overlooks the Grand Union Canal and surrounding countryside with a Mediterranean-inspired menu. Lovely place to go for a special meal.

Barley Mow, Cosgrove is a traditional canal-side local village pub with a largely home made menu.

THE COCK, POTTERSPURY if you fancy a walk across the fields to a pub this is the one for you. It will take about 15/20 minutes to what is a good old local pub.

THE WHITE HART, GRAFTON REGIS is a family run business with the main chef being one of the owners. This pub has a huge menu and they having been running the pub since 1996.

The above pubs are all in the local villages, if you fancy a trip to the market town of Stony Stratford you can find a wide choice of food which includes traditional food at THE CROWN French at FRENCH-AFFAIRE Indian food at THE CALCUTTA BRASSERIE or PASSAGE TO INDIA and Thai ROYAL THAI

Whilst in Milton Keynes you can find most resturant chains at either THE HUB or THE CENTRE MK

I grew up at Furtho and when I was younger whenever I said I lived near Milton Keynes people would always talk about the concrete cows and roundabouts. I have to say now Milton Keynes has grown not so many people know about the concrete cows, just the roundabouts !

Wedding Guests



If you are coming as a wedding guest, here is the answer to the frequently asked questions


* YES you can leave you car over night. We ask cars are collected by midday the following day

* If you are camping at a wedding there are toilets and one shower available. As you come out of the camping field these are to the right. The black door in the white painted building.

* We have five rooms on site which for a Saturday wedding are booked as part of the wedding lots of other local accomodation can be found on www.booking.com look in the area of MK19 6NR

The bride and bridesmaid's stayed in the Farmhouse the night before the wedding  I have had many creatives brides but I think this was the first and so far only bride who made her own wedding dress.  It was absolutely amazing and I loved the open back. Amelia & James got married on the gazebo at the lake here at Furtho.  With guests sat on the grass seats. I always love going to see the barn all set up on a Friday evening before a wedding.  For this wedding I was certainly blown away by all the amazing details.  Each table had a hoop of flowers over it was so effective. The Grooms Mum made the cake apparently have a few trials and making a delicious cake for the day.  I have great memories of this wedding with the sliding doors open and a packed dancefloor.  DJ Karlton had not played here before but we were very impressed.   I think this is the shortest supplier list I have ever written !! Wedding Food Caterers

  My girls asked me recently what food we had at our wedding, and when I replied saying we had had canapes, roast lamb and pudding they said we were boring.  When we got married, most people were very traditional and that was the way we went.  At each table we nominated a carver, and they were presented with a leg of lamb to carve.  If all the people on the table did not know each other this soon broke any ice.  Robin & I cannot even remember what canapes and pudding we had, although I am sure we debated what to have for a while.  Although lots of couples do still choose a traditional three course meal, this is by no means the norm, and couples realise it is their wedding, so they can have whatever they like.  When couples come and view Furtho Manor Farm I send them our supplier list, and help to point them in the right direction of suppliers who will suit them - but I often wonder if they look at the list of caterers, and wonder where to start.  So today I decided to tell you abou

The History of Furtho

Furtho Manor Farm has a long history dating back to its existence as a medieval village. It  appeared as ‘Forho’ in the 1086 Domesday book, and was likely named after Walter de  Furtho, who inhabited the farm after his arrival with William the Conqueror in 1066. The  Ancient Parish was 693 acres, bounded by Potterspury and Yardley Gobion on the west, and  Cosgrove on the east. There was often conflict between those settled in Furtho and its  surrounding areas. In fact, after Edmund Arnold bought the farm in 1662, he was warned  that the inhabitants of Cosgrove were prone to stirring up trouble between the two  parishes. The church was the central point of the village’s expansion, although its growth  remained limited, with the parish never housing more than 46 people. Furtho was subject to  enclosure during the early 16th century which led to its depopulation. This was completed in  1572 by Thomas Furtho with the sale of farmlands.
