Booking a legal wedding ceremony

I often hear couples say they are confused when booking their legal wedding ceremony. I hope this blog will help couples to understand the procedure.

If you are wanting a ceremony here at Furtho Manor Farm before you book the registrars please book your date with Linda or Robin by emailing info@furthomanorfarm.co.uk

Your date will then be pencilled in, once you have confirmed with the registrars lets us know and we will send a contract of hire to confirm your booking.

You do not have to live in the West Northants area to get married at Furtho Manor Farm.

There are two things you need to book with the registars.

Firstly you need to book for a ceremony to take place at Furtho Manor Farm on the date you would like.

Secondly,  within 12 months of your wedding day you need to book a Notice of Marriage / Civil Ceremony.  The notice of marriage has to go to the registars in the area where you live.

At Furtho Manor Farm Wedding Venue we are with the West Northants registrars area.  So to book the registrars you have to go to the website below and create an account.

1. Go to https://westnorthamptonshire.zipporah.co.uk/Registrars/Account/Register

2. Once you have done this you will get to a page with the option to choose beween a marriage ceremony or a civil ceremony.

3.  On the third page you want to go to the bottom option and choose Ceremony at an approved venue. So find Furtho Manor Farm and select the Challow Building, this is the barn but the registrars allow any of the locations we have told you about.

4. Then select your nationalities and if you live with West Northamptonshire or not.

PLEASE NOTE:  Prior to your ceremony taking place, you are both required to give notice of marriage.  To do so you need to fulfil a residential qualification and live within the registration district where you are giving notice.  If you live in different registration districts you will need to give notice separately.  A list of Register Offices in England and Wales can be found here.

If one or both parties to the marriage are non-EEA nationals then you are required to give your notice of marriage together at a Designated Register Office

Please ensure you can comply with the residential and other qualifying requirements before continuing.  If you make a booking and are then unable to meet the criteria or if there are no notice appointments available to meet with your proposed ceremony date no refunds will be due.

Please visit www.gov.uk or our website for full details.

5. Answer the questions on the form.

6. You now are at the calendar to choose the date and time you would like.

For all marriage ceremonies there is a pre ceremony interview that needs to take place prior to the actual ceremony start time. For example, if you wanted to marry at 14:00, you would need to book the start time as 13:30 to allow for the interviews to take place prior to the ceremony.
