Accessible Wedding Venue

I read a comment on Facebook recently saying how people don't talk about if a venue is accessible and I realised I had rarely talked about this online, which is awful as it is a topic close to my heart.

My mother was paralysed from the chest down when I was 3 years old, so I grew up with a mother in a wheelchair and know lots about accessible problems. I have lifted her wheelchair up steps and stood outside many toilets not letting anyone in as my Mum could not shut the door !

All the paths around Furtho Manor Farm wedding venue are solid - no nasty deep gravel to push a chair through! If you have been on deep gravel in a wheelchair you know what I am talking about when I say this.

We have hosted a Babyshower for a lady in a wheelchair and she commented how difficult it was to find a venue that was wheelchair friendly so now I must shout about the fact we are.

Furtho Manor Farm Wedding & Event Barn

When we started our wedding venue everything was done to make sure all areas are accessible from a wheelchair. Everywhere can be accessed without going up steps. The only steps are an additional way outside.

Here is some information to help if you have accessible issues.

When you arrive follow the green sign to access and parking on the right, and ignore the wedding parking signs.

The main wedding parking is in a field but if you follow the green sign you will be in a tarmac car park.

From the car park it is all on the flat to the barn.

The main entrance door has a lip at the threshold but the sliding doors below it are completely flat. This door is 34 inches, 86 cm wide.

Whilst the sliding door is 37 inches, 94 cm wide.

We have a disabled toilet next to the other toilets. The door to this toilet is 32 inchs, 81 cm wide and there is a handrail next to the toilet.

Furtho East

Furtho East is our smaller ceremony room and is used for couples to meet the registrars before their wedding if they are not having it for their ceremony. Again this room has no steps and has a disabled toilet.

The Farmhouse & The Lodge Bed & Breakfast

We have three ground floor rooms onsite one in The Famhouse and two at The Lodge.

Farmhouse Downstairs Room

This room has a double bed and a double z-bed can be added.

This room has our largest ensuite bathroom with a shower over the bath. Next to the toilet there is a handrail.

100 metres from The Farmhouse is The Lodge, this is a bungalow so both rooms are downstairs.

The Lodge Double private bathroom

This room has a well equipped kitchen area with an oven, microwave, toaster and a small fridge. The bathroom is just across the corridor.

The Lodge

100 metres from The Farmhouse is The Lodge, this is a bungalow so both rooms are downstairs. There are two rooms and both the guests rooms in The Lodge have one double bed, these rooms can only be let as double or single rooms.

For a Saturday wedding The Lodge rooms are included with the wedding. These can also be booked for the Friday night, but the same guests have to stay both nights. These rooms are not serviced on a Saturday.

The Ensuite

This room has a double bed and a small ensuite with a shower.
